Hay Dobson,

I remember this one time. In art class we were doin sum maori poster thing....anyways i kinda got distracted with all the silence....so i started to paint on my school sweatshirt (because thats what u do when ur bored?????) with oil paints ofcourse. (colouring in the ends of the sleeves, splashing paint everywhere). Throughout the rest of the year (5th form) he never had noticed it, until the following year (6th form). I walked passed him and the words "oh my goodness" came out. He laughed and said "next year (7th form) i want to hang that (my beautifully designed and well crafted school sweatshirt) up. So every student that walks in, I can tell them that this (my beautifully designed and well crafted school sweatshirt) isnt what u do when you decide to take MY art class".

Anyways R.I.P and harmony, sir.

B.C WHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAT!

Michael

Where to start? there are so many good memories. Ive only known you for a year but I feel like I have lost an important part of my family. I remember so many happy times like the long hours we spent alone in the art room when I was the furthest behind on my etching. All the way up to the other day when we were discussing the great cricketers of all time. I will never forget the way that you used to wistle non-stop. It kept the room alive and made it feel like a place where we could relax, we could always here you coming a mile off, you were so loud. I also remember the way you used to eat your fish and chips with a fork, talking about how much fat was in these things and how we shouldnt eat them while you munched away. I will also remember the chicken rolls it was only a few weeks ago but it seems like a life time.

You taught me so much about art and about life. If it wasnt for you i wouldnt be the artist i am today. You gave so much to me and any other student that was willing to give there own time to do what you loved, art. And for that I will always be grateful. You were the best teacher i ever had and i cant believe this has happened to such a brilliant man.

I miss you already

The slowest student you ever had,

Mike

where to start? so many things ill never forget. the times when you told us what flower you thought we were, telling us not to revive you if you dropped dead. the times when you put on classical music, and when we could hear you coming from a mile away, your whistling was so loud. the exclamations of "edges Tom!" and the way you stood, with your hands tucked into your paint splattered apron. i miss you so much, we all do. i still cant believe that youre gone, you leave such an empty space. hope ill see you again in heaven. rest in peace mr dobson, and god bless

Mr. Dobson! Where do I begin…you were such a great man such an amazing person! You were so talented, so inspiring, so creative and that will never leave us. You made every person feel talented and special you sure could make fun of people joke and laugh at them but nobody not one person could ever be angry at you for that because we all knew that you never meant anything bad by it. Your knowledge, imagination and years that you left at Birkenhead College will never be forgotten. And no other person can or ever will replace you. Its hard for everyone to carry on with their art because you are not there anymore because it was you that made us want to paint, inspire us to do things, add things and create, and things seem dark and grey without you but we know that there is light coming towards us now so we will keep painting, because your that light in our hearts telling us we can do it that we’re amazing and we have the skill to do so.

Your whistling, your tea cups, your peaceful silly music, your constant reminding us not to sit too close to the heater, your amazing blue eyed dog barkiis, your telling off lucky for drowning his pictures in hairspray, your fascinating stories and interesting facts about life, your disgust in silly things like not liking a certain colour and YOU sir! Will never ever ever ever be forgotten. Thank you for everything, in hope that you are now in a better place with your wife may you rest in peace!

                                                                       Love Sophia-Marie Spahn
