Everyday after school I walk past your room, and I used to always look into your office. Most days I would see you sitting there doing something or getting something for someone you were helping in art. If you ever looked out while I was looking in, I'd quickly look down and pretend I wasnt looking. Now whenever I look in I get hit by the fact I will never have to  quickly bow my head in fear you saw me. It sounds petty but it was almost like a routine.
We were running late the other day and when we came in (round in the park behind C block) there was only one spare carpark, your one. Mum couldnt bring herself to park there. She said "No, no thats Colins park! I cant go there". That park, right by your room will always be your park.
Its these little acts that remind us of you, and how great you were not only as a teacher but also a person. I wish now, that instead of bowing my head quickly, I would have waved and said hello.
I hope you've been treated well, and are having a great time with your wife who you missed so much! :)

It is incredibly sad to hear that someone so inspiring has passed. During our years as frustrated teenagers the Art department became our sanctuary, thats going back nearly 15 years now. Mr Dobson, Mrs Sage and Mr Ball were a great team and many of us are still making art, enjoying others work and in my situation now teaching it. Mr Dobson made history come alive with his animated and real life stories, one I remember is him trying to cast a Rodin in the middle of the night with friends. Mr Dobson tapped into the romantisism and rich world of creativity and passed it on to us, never had humble old Beachaven felt like the right place to be as when he gathered us into that pokey auditorium and spoke of magic. Thankyou for taking us so seriously and making us feel unique and known. Thankyou Mr Dobson.

Hi Mr. Dobson...I still (and will always) remember all that time I spend in art with you...I can always talk to you about anything, countries, music, foods and off course art...I'll miss that whistling, apron, cofee, yelling, smile and laughs :)
I will miss you Mr. Dobson :)

(Aww...I wish I had a photo of you and me)

Mr Dobson was (and will continue to be) an inspiration to all those he taught. He devotion and dedication to his students was priceless, and his ability to really 'see you' was amazing. He had a way of being able to see you not just as a student, but as a person, and his comments always displayed a real understanding of who you were (even if sometimes they weren't things you wanted to hear!). His quirky behaviour and hilarious stories were always refreshing, and his desire to share a passion and value for art was always evident. High school art is always a tricky subject, but he managed to make it about more than the marks or requirements, and turned it into an exploration of your own creativity. He used to actually sacrafice his own time and come into the studio on the weekends so we could come and work on our boards or folios, and he helped to foster an environment of not just hard work, but camrederie and endless fun. I'll never forget the afternoon when we managed to inadvertantly produce laughing gas, and couldn't stop laughing or joking for about half an hour.

He will always be highly esteemed and fondly remembered.

  Tribute

May his memory never fade,

may his spirit always be near,

i read this now out loud,

because i know that he can hear.

Although his soul has gone to heaven,

and his body turned to dust,

his thoughts will still remain,

though may grow old and start to rust.

He was neither old nor young,

 but somewhere in between,

full of happiness and peacefullness,

he was kind and never mean.

So now he's with his loved one's,

who's time has long past-by,

while his spirit sours above us,

as he watches from the sky.

He was loved to bits by many,

though at times you couldn't tell,

his presence is loud and clear,

like the tolling of a bell.

i give this to you now,

as a celebration, not in mourning,

as the great life that he had,

and his new life that is dawning.

This is a poem i wrote and i dedicate this to you Mr Dobby. i miss the way you always whistled and played your clasical music. i cant thank you enough for all you've done. everlasting happiness to you sir.
